Domain Name Auctions
Are you someone who thinks all the good domain names are
taken? Do you think you can’t compete
with other businesses online without a high
quality domain name? If you answered
yes to those questions I would partially agree with you, most of the good names
are taken and you should compete with a good / great domain name online. Let me help you in getting one of those
domain names.
With all that being said, you can get almost any domain name
you would like. There are a lot of great
domain names left, high quality, highly recognizable, brandable, and some great
money making domain names left. Just
like anything in life, you have to pay for it and how much are you willing to
pay? I have a lot of experience with purchasing domain names, some good, and
some bad so I wanted to share some experience with you.
I’ll give you three domain name auction sites to look at
(the most popular and the one I use regularly).
www.sedo.com
www.buydomains.com
www.afternic.com
www.greatdomain.com (owned by Sedo)
The domain name auction sites are not very difficult to
navigate. Sedo and Afternic require you
to register if you would like to buy or sell domain names. At BuyDomain you just have to send in an
inquiry if you would like to purchase a domain name and they will send you a
domain price request back to your email account. I suggest getting an account and taking a
look around all those sites. I think
what you will notice are there are a lot of good domain names for sale (some
expensive and some not).
There are also domain names listed without prices at the
domain name auction sites. The domain
names without prices are for you to start your negotiation at (by submitting a
price). What I like to do for the domain
names without prices is to always offer the minimium offer of $60.00 (at Sedo) just
to find out where they stand on there price.
After they give me a negotiation back, I have found that I can usually
“seal the deal” around 40%-50% of the asking price.
At Buydomain I have found that they are not as willing to
negotiate with me as much. I can usually
get 20%-30% off the domain names, but that’s about the max I can usually
get.
I’d like to give you some cautionary tips. Do your homework on the domain name you are
buying, because you want to make sure that the domain name is not listed as a
spam site or removed from the Google Index.
If the domain name is de-listed from Google or “Black Listed” it is a
long process to get the domain name backing good standing. Make sure you do a search in google.com for
pages that link to it and make sure that there are not any negative things
about that domain name, because it will just make your domain life
miserable. I suggest that you shouldn’t
be in a hurry to buy a domain name, take your time, do your homework and relax. I like to pick a list of domain names and
think about them overnight before I make any decisions.
